i’ve seen a lot of people unsatisfied with it, but i honestly think it’s perfect how katherine got sent to hell. i know it’s hard to lose sight of it with jp trying to give everybody & their mother a back story, but katherine was the series first villain. she’s the bad guy. she was the one that was meant to be defeated. and she rocked that. she was a badass villain until the very end. she screwed everyone over for weeks before they found her out.
and i think it’s so hauntingly poetic that she got sent to hell despite trying to be selfless in her final act. that’s what’s so tragic about these people. katherine didn’t deserve the other side, and perhaps if she got more time with her daughter she could redeem herself. but that’s what’s beautiful. it was too late. she decided to love nadia too late. she had already sealed her fate. and even up until her very last moment she was selfish with her “if i can’t have stefan no one can”. she didn’t learn her lesson, and she injected elena just to get back at everybody even after she died.
katherine is a perfect villain and i think it’s fucking badass and is a testament to her wicked nature that she got sent to hell. it was the perfect way for her to go. because she deserved it in every sense of the word.

January, 15-16: The moment that made you love him
-What did you think you would find?
-The woman who gave me this…I mean, you act like you don’t care. But you cared enough to protect me after you left.
-I was a different person back then.
-Right, right. And that person is gone. The woman I married, the woman I loved, she’s just - she’s gone. You expect me to believe that?
